Single Life

I realized that these next 2 weeks will be the last with girl roommates (I get to upgrade real soon) but for now I have been thinking about the time I have had to live with such amazing people. I have been so stinkin' lucky each semester.

1st semester: Kerr 127 Dorms with Danielle, Natalie, and Whitney. They are amazing ladies! We probably walked to walmart 8 times together this semester.

I also met these two lovelys who I am still awesome friends with btw

Second semester: Royal Crest 215 Apartments
Careshmeh, Ceri, Marquee, Morgan, (Natalie) & Lydia! These girls were so fun to live with! 2 are married and 3 of us are engaged :) This is the year I met that pretty cool lookin' kid with the belt buckle on the right ;)

Here is Lydia with her hubby Kedrick - they are so perfect together.

3rd semester: Royal Crest 302 Apartments
These awesome ladies were also such a blast! We did so much and learned so much together.

4th semester: Royal Crest 302 Apartments
I promise I took a picture of us. But I can't find it. Once I do I will create a special post just for it :)
But these girls are amazing. I just love listening to how they talk - it's great.

Here's what I'll miss about living with 5 other girls:
Brownies every other week.
Walking to church.
Automatic friends.

Dishes that pile up like no other.

Warning signs above the toilet.

Toilet paper shortage almost every day.
Sharing a bathroom (that locks you in btw).

 Quote walls!!! (jk....)

I am so excited for my permanent roommate!!!!
less than 3 months!! :)

Orange shirts

I have to remind myself each day why I like my job.
Looking back I know I will have loved this experience, but sometimes I get pushed around and feel like crap. My work is not always used and when I do something, it is not appreciated and I have to go do it again.
buuuut....
The end of the semester is slowly creeping up on us and after that I will not have my wonderful campus photog job anymore.

When I calm myself down after all the pictures I slowly come to realize how extra-ordinary these individuals are. They sacrifice so much of their time to serve as counsel members on teams. They are so fun and smart and all-around amazing people. I have so much respect for all of them and I am so honored to get to take their pictures.
I remember the first few months of my job and how lost I felt. I didn't know anyone and I didn't know what the purpose of their service was. Now I understand all the effort and excitement they put into their positions because they truly love it and want to help others.

I had a lot of fun photographing in a studio today! The guy in-charge of the studio helped me out with camera/flash stuff and it was such a blast. He told my boss that I know what I am doing (bossing around models and talking camera talk with him). That made me feel good and I think it was good for my boss to hear. :)
Tomorrow is this HUGE photo shoot of every. single. person. from. the. department. at 2pm in the icenter!
Pray for me!

Hope your day was fab-

"My Treats"

David and Kent served their missions in Oklahoma where Kent would make his "treats". I'm sure there is a real name for them, but we just call them "my treats" - referring to Kent.
Tonight we made it a date and had dinner, played UNO ROBATO and then made some treats! It was so fun and Kent was CRAZY - afterwards he said "I was on one tonight".

1 cup sugar
1 cup corn syrup
1 cup peanut butter
6 cups corn flakes

DONE.
deliciousness.

Little Cocito

We bought a coconut at WinCo for fun!

This was our first time trying to open a coconut, so we went to advice online on how to do it. This video is hilarious and you don't expect him to open it or cut it the way he does.

Here is little Cocito :) See the face? :O

Kent with the tools

"I THREW IT ON THE GROUND!" haha

We didn't even have to cut it with the knife to scrape off the shell!

We think it might have been a bad coconut (a little rotten) but it was a fun experience:)

Many more of those to come!

Makin omelets with my best friend

For Christmas 2011 I bought Kent an omelet maker.

                                                                             so many eggs ^^

In June 2011 I bought this omelet maker to wrap early for Kent's gift. For half of a year I looked at it and took it back to Idaho. Then finally, he took it home for Christmas and now it's back with me. We keep it at my house to eat some delicious omelets!!

This is us amazed at how good they are.

Even with whipped cream

The Trip home

My journey home begins tomorrow at 2am on a bus. I have a 5 hour layover, so I will most likely be blogging during that time, telling you about my adventures to the airport.

I made a picture list of what I want to do for Christmas using pinterest, of course. Here is what I am going to be doing in my spare time in Kansas (besides seeing and enjoying time with family):

I want to create one of these for muh-self

I also want to make one of these. I really like this style.

Saw this and I thought of things to do with the Pman

I HAVE THIS JACKET IN BLUE. Maybe if I wear it with my khaki pants and a white shirt?? They are all at home, so I will bring them back! :)

Fun bokeh

YES. for Santa.

Also fun Bokeh, I don't know why I haven't tried this yet!

If you want to follow me on pinterest, here is the link! http://pinterest.com/afreeby/

My family is going to pick me up from the Airport and then we are going to go see Christmas lights on the plaza in KC or somewhere else in KC and maybe even go see the temple!! :) I am so excited to see my family again!!!

One last hooo-rah

This is not a final post of any sort, but I just feel like I’m giving school my final effort and my last hoorah for the semester. There are finals and quizzes and projects that require a lot of my time. So does my job. But I haven’t been as stressed as past semesters, which is crazy because Kent is here too! :) Someone once told me Kent is probably equivalent to 20 credits, but those are 20 credits of fun and enjoyable times and memories made together. It has really been a wonderful semester for the two of us and we have grown so much. And I wouldn’t trade those credits for anything!

ice cream!
Last night we tried to surprise each other. I showed up at his interview while he showed up at the end of my class (both at 4:45). We must have taken different routes because we texted each other asking where the other one was and we had switched places. My class got out early so I ran to Zion’s Bank – where he had an interview, and he ran to my photo class (but I got out early). He ran back to Zion’s while I cashed some checks and then we changed something in Kent’s account and traveled over to Jamba Juice in the 1 degree weather. WE GOT THE WHITE GUMMY WITH RASPBERRY! We really enjoyed it because of the taste and also because Kent had a gift card and it was free. While walking back to get ready for Kent’s Christmas ward party, we froze. It was the coldest day of my life. My nose and mouth felt like someone was pinching them. Kent’s ears were falling off from the chills. We had to take 2 breaks on the way home – one at Jimmy Johns, and one in the corner of the stairs to my apartment complex. It was probably the coldest I’d ever been.

We got through it and made it home, changed and went to a Christmas party for Kent’s ward from Church! The food was DELICIOUS there was Turkey, mashed potatoes, rolls, stuffing, corn, cake and (Kent’s personal favorite) Cranberry sauce! Mmmmmmm I could hear my tummy saying “thank you” – due to a major shift from macaroni, ramen, and cereal.
Helping clean up

We were dropped off at my apartment and walked to the Library (still chilly). I did one assignment while kent looked at the free rental DVD’s. We chose this cute Christmas love story with these old people and how they were so different, but fell in love. At the end they started kissing. It was kind of weird and we were like “ehhhhww.” but then we decided we are going to kiss when we are old too. Ha

I am home again in 11 days - I am SO excited to see my family again!! It's going to be tough because I'll miss my man. a lot. But I can't wait to be in my own home again with those wonderful people. LOVE YOU!!

This is me with finals.. I know I will miss this someday.

Have a great Tuesday!

Letter to Claire

Claire and Kent at the Sock Hop in Manhattan, KS
I wrote my sister, Claire a letter and I thought it was blog-worthy and really documented our day, so I will type it down.
(p.s. Claire, don't read this until you get your letter)

"Kent and I were doing laundry today (at his place because it's free for me because he has to buy this $85 card... so dumb, so I use it too to use it up before the semester ends) when I received a phone call from Brother Rarick asking if he could pick us up (awesome - no car, remember?) and take us (w/ everyone) to their church gym to play soccer/bball/frisbee, etc. (double awesome). So he picked us up at 3pm and we played soccer then all the kids (minus nora) played in the nursery for like 2 hours while Kent and Tim played bball with old men. It was kent's first time since broken fingers, so he loved it. The Rarick's invited us to dinner (yummy burritos). We ate, played hullaballoo, and then we all watched the GRINCH while Jodi sewed something cool. I played with Nora mostly :)
Then something fabulous awesome happened. Jodi gave me her keys to their Honda thing and said, "drive it home and then come to church tomorrow" It was so awesome feeling so trusted. With their car.We asked if we could get some groceries too, so we went to Walmart. While we were in the ice cream section, Jodi walks up! It was weird/funny because we had her car. Don't worry, we said a prayer before we left and no accidents! She was getting ice cream to help her write her talk (I'm guessing) because she hadn't written it yet. It's awesome because she says she is the worst procrastinator, and so am I!"

The end for the letter.

Oh, but I will say this from the letter, "Update me on yo life, girl! Love you, Anna"
(You can read that, Claire)

We made it to church the next day RIGHT on time. We were a little late because we snooozed our alarms. But we sat with the kiddos and were edified from their talks. Carter gave a talk in Primary, so we went to his too. He has such a testimony! and only 8 years old! I was never that focused or in tune with the Spirit at that age.
Kent and I talked about how the family ward was a nice change from being in a singles ward. It seems like everyone is in the same boat, going to the same school, attending the same classes.... while a family ward has so much variety and experience waiting to be heard, shared, taught and practiced! It was a wonderful Sabbath.
The Raricks let us take their car again because we went for dinner again! They are so wonderful and kind to us. We skyped my family after homemade lasagna and homemade lemon bars. When we are older (not saying they are old) but we want to do things like have college students over and let them borrow our car for a night and watch movies and play games with them. It is such a wonderful feeling being in a home with a family every once in a while. Because you tend to miss family. a lot. (especially the first semester).

**************************************************

Well, no news here but I didn't do much of my homework over the break. I didn't even do the stuff due tomorrow! What was I thinking?? I have to memorize paragraph number 6 of "The Family: A Proclamation to the World" by 2pm tomorrow. Can I do it? I might start tonight...ehh.

Gotta cram it all in because I leave for home (and the semester is over) in 3 weeks!!

Love you Claire!
This is sad that this is the only picture I have of us on my computer, photoshoot when I get home??

p.s. Kent dribbled a basket ball through my legs and went to go get it and slammed his forehead onto my nose. ow. Not broken, but ow.
p.p.s. I bought business cards for new photog business!! stay tuned..

So many words in this post. Probably my longest word one ever.

Food Baby

Howdy y'all! This is Kent! Thanksgiving day was sooo fun, fattening an relaxing! Anna and I went to my Aunt and Uncles house in Idaho Falls! We has a slumber party Wednesday night. We played catch phrase and Anna guessed what I was describing. Woo Hoo! It was our first one!

On Thanksgiving day we had lots to eat! It was very delicious, especially the salad with grapes in it. We had to ask for the recipe.

Okay about being fat and having food babies.

Taking a little break from the meal on the couch. We were so full, we had to wait a couple hours before we could eat pie!

The puppies, Teddy and Ellie, gave us lots of attention, so we gave some back.

Can it get any cuter??

Ellie loves her tummy rubbed! Anna put her in heaven for a day.

We watched Christmas movies and cuddled with puppies. It doesn't get better than that!

***********************************************

Last night Kent and I went to COSTA VIDA!! We shared the sweet pork salad and fed each other. Then we had tres leches, ahhh we love food.

For the second part of our date, we saw Breaking Dawn - wow was that intense. So much blood and unexpected events. Our favorite part of the whole night was hearing a man that worked there say, "Did someone order pizza?" right when the movie started in the dark. It was hilarious, and we giggled for a long time.

Kent's first time playing scrabble! We play it simple, names are allowed and so are small words like "UV" and "WU" :) ha

I'd say it was a success.

*during this post we fed each other apple pie :) yummmm!

School starts in 2 days!
