It's okay to be embarrassed

{ stresssingg }

I just gave a presentation and I'm surprised I didn't pee my pants. I was 65% confident in what I was arguing, and I think it showed. My music was too loud... The light was on, when it should have been off... and the presentation was way too short. It was so embarrassing.

At least it's over, right? Which means I'm thiiis much closer to home :)

-09April2011-
haha, that was written in the middle of finals. I was way STRESSED. Let me tell you, it's good to be home. Kind of too good. I have been kind of a lazy bum..

-10April2011-
Another try at posting, "I'm home."

{ the family on a little picnic }

I am home! It is good to be back. I missed these people like cahrazy.
Now that I'm home, you may ask what I am doing, and I will tell you, "not really sure.." I'm definitely kind of on the hunt for a job, organizing my stuff, and taking pictures!

-12April2011-
My dog and I went on a run this morning in the beautiful 70 degree weather.

Hi.
Sorry I have been a lame-o blogger lately. I'm working on a ton of things that are due on my Birthday! I have a fun post coming up, and I'm way excited to show you!!
But I did want to let you know about the Olive Garden experience I had yesterday with my grandmother. After our 2 bowls of soup and 4 plates of salad, we had some extra bread sticks. "Put those in your purse," says my French grandma as she waves her hand over the bread sticks. I just laugh to myself while I put the buttery bread in my cloth bag. "They are just going to throw them away anyway," Grandma says as we leave.
{ I want to be a grandma cat lady someday too :) }

Adios!

I'm out of ideas..

{ 10 days }

...and time. There are so many presentations/cramming sessions/papers I need to fit into this one week. I have no idea what to write about on this blog. So I'll just let you know how my nap-dream went:
My sister was getting married. She met this kid in the morning, and they decided to get married that afternoon. My mom called me to make sure it was okay, and I said, "Well yeah, as long as she knows it's right." So they got married in the Idaho Falls Temple (which was on a mountain). I had to sit in the lobby while they were married. Her dress was beautiful, and she was gorgeous, but I remember being really confused and sad, because she's only 16.
New Dream (same nap): On a quiet dark road with dead trees everywhere. A girl was driving me in a car and told me she wasn't going to use the breaks. I'm like what the heck, so I get out of the car and let her drive with no breaks. She ended up tipping the car over. My backpack was inside the car, and everything that was in it was destroyed, but luckily she was okay. (Previously last week in real life we got into a little car trouble situation. our car almost tipped as we drove into a ditch. We're okay though :)

It was a very stressful napping experience.

Where am I?

{ music }

Where am I right now? The Eliza R. Snow Building (Music Building) on a bench listening to the crazy band kids sing and yell about important matters of nothing. One characteristic I love about them is the giggling. There is always lots of giggling.
I can say things about these people because I am one of them. I'm more of the quiet type of band kid, but nonetheless, I'm still a band kid.
It all started in 5th grade. My dad took me to a Music Shop in Wichita, KS where we would find an instrument for me to play. I really wanted to play the flute, but my dad said I didn't have the right kind of mouth. (:/) So we went for the brass instruments. I can remember an older man asking me to "buzz my lips" for him. I can also remember the embarrassment that came after I tried. Brass players don't even buzz, they vibrate their lips with the mouthpiece. duhh, old man.
We tried multiple instruments, and after I finished trying out the French horn, dad looked at me and said something along the lines of, "I really think you should play this one." So I did :)
Can you believe I've been playing for the following years:
5th grade, 6th grade, 7th grade, 8th grade, 9th grade, 10th grade, 11th grade, 12th grade and my 2nd semester of college??
I think throughout my high school experience, I was really playing just to play. My dad was my band teacher 7th - 12th grade, and my grandparents were big into the "music" thing. I didn't want to disappoint them. I wanted to make them happy, so I kept playing.
Over the years, I have learned to love it. After all of the rehearsals and my efforts, I began seeing my hard work pay off. It became something to work on, and the goal to work towards becoming better. After my first semester of college with zero band, I missed it. I was afraid I would loose my ohmbahser (lip muscles - not sure how to spell it..) and have to re-learn how to play. Luckily I was fine and I can't even tell you how much I enjoy playing my French Horn.
Band has been such a big part of my life, I hardly left room for anything else. Band has made me who I am today. It has helped me realize the importance of music, social skills, and listening. Sometimes I wish I could've been that cheerleader, or that soccer player, but if I could do it all over again, I would always stay a band kid.

Bucket List.

{ yeahhh, I need to work on this }

Okay so this girl in my English class shared with us part of her bucket list. Here are some of the things she said:
"Have a staring contest with a blind person. They would never know if I blinked." or "Have a midget friend."
Mine probably will never be as awesome as hers, but I'll be working on some of my own. Any suggestions for me?

I'm taking a technology class and I enjoy the quotes we are given:
"The Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ has no doubt had a powerful impact on your life.  It has, in part, shaped who you are and what your future will be.  Do not be afraid to share with others your experiences as a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ.  We all have interesting stories that have influenced our identity.  Sharing those stories is a nonthreatening way to talk to others.  Telling those stories can help demystify the Church.  You could help overcome misperceptions through your own sphere of influence, which ought to include the Internet."
(M. Russell Ballard, “Sharing the Gospel Using the Internet,” Ensign, Jul 2008)

Hopefully I will have a good story to tell you soon! :)

3.14

{ This is where you would have found me this morning }

It's really been "just one of those days" according to the song the title of this blog is named after.
I stayed up WAY too late and woke up right at the start of my 9:oo am class. Perfect.

It will be alright though. D. Todd Christofferson gave an excellent fireside at the beginning of this semester. He focused his words on the idea of taking "One day at a time". I've really had a lot to do this semester and his talk has helped me focus on making each day continually better, to improve upon the little things, and to be grateful for what comes my way.

{ Happy Birthday Clarie! }

Here's a shout-out to my favorite little sister, Claire. She is such a beautiful person with a beautiful Spirit. I love how we can talk about anything! I'm so grateful to have such a wonderful sister and friend.
Love ya, girl.

Have a great Monday! Don't be stupid and sleep in like me.

Education Technology Winter 2011 Class

{ My technology }

Hello. My name is Anna and I am in the Education Technology class at BYU-Idaho. I have been given an assignment to create a blog and then learn about the fun world of blogging. But lucky me! I already have one :) Here is a post for all you EDtech people to comment on, if you would like. Please feel free to give me your ideas on how my blog looks, or how I can improve it :)

Thanks!

Weekend in Review

Today I took a walk to the post office. The sun was shining, but there were still puddles I had to jump over.
On my way home, I thought of the amazing weekend I had.
Friday:
Sleeping in until 10:18am. Then remembering I had to take a math quiz at 10:15am, freaking out, and throwing everything to turn my computer on.
Took a walk around Provo. Stopped by here:

DELICIOUS. Very cute and so sweet. I definitely recommend the vaNIElla cupcake :)
Then I bought some new earrings at the mall!
That night we were early to our $1.50 movie: NARNIA The Voyage of the Dawn Treade
sooo, we went to CAFE RIO!

I got the Sweet Pork Burrito. I love me some Mexican food.
Saturday:
Slept in until 10:30am.
Went to Olive Garden for Lunch and had the endless Soup, Salad, & Bread-sticks!

yummmmmm :)
Then a quick walk to Dollar Tree.
When we got home, I finished my homework for the weekend. Our FHE brother took Morgan and I DISCO SKATING in Orem - it was great :)
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
Sunday:
Church! It was neat to visit a married ward. I attend a singles ward at BYU-Idaho. I love how the gospel is the same no matter where you go. Even in Utah, ha.
Dinner with the family we stayed with.
Then a trip back to Rexburg!
I have been thinking about how there are 29 days until I come home.. and I know I'm really going to miss being here. I'm going to miss devotionals, having school work (weird, i know), the atmosphere and Spirit of this University, and especially the people!
LOVE,
Note to self: Do not stick fingers in fish food while they are still wet = Messy.
