Dusty Blog

{ summer work }

Summer has taken over and I have not been very good at blogging! Okay, so my current project is switching rooms with Claire, my younger sister. We started with the closet which was good. I've been holding on to a LOT of random things that need to be given away/thrown away. I found a box with all these neat quotes and church stuff. I feel guilty throwing them away, so I'll just blog about them! It's a win win if you ask me. Type up quotes = more blogging! :)

The first one was probably an email I got when I was 12 and HAD to keep it. They are just suggestions on how to live a good life.

Health:
Drink plenty of Water - I agree with this
Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar - my grandpa told me the same thing
Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants - carrrrbbbss
Make time to pray - all the time
Live with Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy
Read more books than you did the previous year
Play more games
Sit in silence for at least 10 min each day - ponder
Sleep for 7 hrs. - AND THAT'S IT (ha I like my sleep)
Take a 10-30 minutes' walk daily. And while you walk, smile :)

Personality:
Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
Don't have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest you energy in the positive present moment.
Don't overdo. Keep your limits.
Don't waist your precious energy on gossip.
Dream more while you are awake.
Envy is a wast of time. You already have all you need.
Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner with his/her mistakes of the past. that will ruin your present Happiness.
Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.
Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
no one is in charge of your happiness except you.
Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade a way like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
Smile and laugh more.
You don't win every argument. Agree to disagree

Society:
Call your family often - yay skype
Each day give something good to others.
Forgive - let it go!
Spend more time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of 6
Try to make at least 3 people smile each day.
What other people think of you is none of your business.
Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. your friends will. Stay in touch.

Life:
Do the right thing (even when others arn't looking)
Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful, or joyful.
however good or bad a situaion is, it will change.
No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, and show up.
The best is yet to come
When you awake alive in the morning, thank Heavenly Father for it.

Have a great day!

Ho-ho for breakfast

{ we all need some ice cream on a day like this }

Today I had a ho-ho for breakfast. I kind of regreted it when I went to brush my teeth and realized I had a dentist appointment at 2. Hopefully my superb pre-dentist-visit-flossing-brushing-and-mouthwashing did the trick to cover up the evidence. I think I fooled them :)

Summer Job? I found one! I wash windows:) Yep, so I washed a house today, then got a call to go and wash Walgreens windows in Topeka. Kinda way hot in 104 degrees. But a hard workin day always makes you appreciate the shower thiiiiiiiis much more.

We are re-doing the basement. Carpeting, painting, and organizing. It's taking foreverrrr. But it will be done!

{ I found this!! }

 There are TONS of positives to cleaning a house. Like seeing the end result, making better decisions to keep the house clean and finding goodies like this to keep and USE (*big part of organizing)! Yayayaya I can't wait to develop the beauties I took. <3
p.s. organizing is like my favorite thing everrrr. Keep it simple!

{ That's my dad talking }

This summer I decided to join the band my dad is a part of. It has been fun playing the songs I have heard every summer growing up. Good times! :)

Have a great weekend!
for reading this blog.

{ ready for the day }

I figured something out today. I should have a long time ago.
Note to self:
If you ever feel very lazy, take a shower and get dressed and ready for the day. Even if you are not going anywhere! (Whaaaa?) It's a crazy thing it does to the mind. It makes you feel good, responsible, clean, and happy :)
Try it. It's fun. It's motivating me to do things I never imagined doing today (including writing something on this blog!)
Awesome. I'm glad we have discovered that.

I'm not a very good writer/speaker. I can tell you things using pictures, so I think that's just what I will do :)

{ Kiva in the cone of shame }

I let this little one out to go potty. She saw a rabbit and chased it through a barbbed wire fence. I knew something had happened to her (because of personal past experience with a barbbed wire fence...) but not until she layed down and showed me her tummy. It was straight to the vet! We had to push her into the room to get her temperature, and while they were taking it, everyone kept saying, "Is this the emergency??" referring to Kiva. She was quite the center of attention! After a couple of hours, she was allowed to go home and rest. No running, jumping, stairs or swimming for her! This is going to be a loooong 2 weeks.
Claire and I recently purchased our first pair of TOMS! They are amazing. I love the idea of the company and the shoes themselves. SO COMFY :)
{ Summer & Claire }
I still haven't finished the pictures from my birthday party, but let me tell you, they are cute! I hope you will see them soon, I'm kind of really behind...
Well, there's a little update of what is going on. I register for classes next week. I changed my major from Elementary Ed to who knows what next! Time to think...

birthday fun

{ I turned 19 a couple weeks ago }

And we threw a lavish party!
I can't wait to show you the pictures :) But it will take me a while to get them all organized. Today I figured I had better update this blog!

I found this amazing quote, and I have to share it with you.
" To walk with the Lord, we have to know what is essential, what is necessary, and what is nice to-do. "
It is a nice way to prioritize and think about where I spend my energy. This summer is a nice time to change the way I use my time. I love lists, and so I think this will be beneficial to me. Make changes, set goals, and work towards something everyday.

Have you ever heard of the site "pinterest.com"? I spend a lot a lot of my time there looking for ideas. Here is a cute example of something you would find:

 SO cute.

Have a great Tuesday!

It's okay to be embarrassed

{ stresssingg }

I just gave a presentation and I'm surprised I didn't pee my pants. I was 65% confident in what I was arguing, and I think it showed. My music was too loud... The light was on, when it should have been off... and the presentation was way too short. It was so embarrassing.

At least it's over, right? Which means I'm thiiis much closer to home :)

-09April2011-
haha, that was written in the middle of finals. I was way STRESSED. Let me tell you, it's good to be home. Kind of too good. I have been kind of a lazy bum..

-10April2011-
Another try at posting, "I'm home."

{ the family on a little picnic }

I am home! It is good to be back. I missed these people like cahrazy.
Now that I'm home, you may ask what I am doing, and I will tell you, "not really sure.." I'm definitely kind of on the hunt for a job, organizing my stuff, and taking pictures!

-12April2011-
My dog and I went on a run this morning in the beautiful 70 degree weather.

-21April2011-
Hi.
Sorry I have been a lame-o blogger lately. I'm working on a ton of things that are due on my Birthday! I have a fun post coming up, and I'm way excited to show you!!
But I did want to let you know about the Olive Garden experience I had yesterday with my grandmother. After our 2 bowls of soup and 4 plates of salad, we had some extra bread sticks. "Put those in your purse," says my French grandma as she waves her hand over the bread sticks. I just laugh to myself while I put the buttery bread in my cloth bag. "They are just going to throw them away anyway," Grandma says as we leave.
{ I want to be a grandma cat lady someday too :) }

Adios!
